MUMBAI: Composer-director Vishal Bhardwaj and singer Rekha Bhardwaj have set a perfect relationship goal for the industry. It’s been around 25 years since the beautiful couple have been together and the something that has always kept the lovers connected is music.
It was in 1984 February when Rekha and Vishal met while practicing for the Hindu college (Delhi) annual function. “Vishal joined in 1983 and I was his senior. I used to tease him a lot because I have always been an enthusiastic participant, a star of college and Vishal was a calm and composed person,” said Mrs. Bhardwaj.
Vishal was a state-level cricketer who played for the under 19 team for the state of Uttar Pradesh. He moved to Delhi to better his opportunities in cricket. While playing cricket in college, Vishal injured this thumb when he decided that he wouldn’t be a cricketer.

As Vishal’s father passed away while he was in 3rd year of degree college, survival was a question and that is what made him pursue music. Rekha being a trained singer, backed Vishal with her classical music knowledge. Even today when Vishal composes a song, the first reaction is taken from Rekha.
“Touchwood our compatibility for music is wonderful. If any one of us would turn out to be mediocre, may be we would have divorced long back,” said the Namak Ishq Ka singer.
