MUMBAI: Guess what is the bridge that connects Sunny Deol’s ‘Ghayal’ from its sequel currently running in the theatres, ‘Ghayal Once Again’? Vipin Mishra’s background score that takes up from where Bappi Lahiri left off in the original binds the two films together seamlessly.
The composer, best known for his background score for the Arjun Kapoor starer ‘Aurungzeb’ told Radioandmusic.com that he followed the classic path of composing the score for ‘Ghayal Once Again’. “However, the difference here is that the background score of this movie is very international,” he said.
“You’ve heard the score before but not in Indian cinema,” stressed the composer. “Bappi Lahiri had given background score in ‘Ghayal’. ‘Ghayal Once Again’ is more of a cover version of it. Basically, we broke down everything from the previous version to reconstruct something new. So, though the score has a connect with the earlier film, it’s different,” he maintained.

Mishra firmly believes that there are only two things that help one connect with a film – sound and sight. Thus, one has to get the background scores right. The business is time-consuming according to him and cannot be done overnight. “When Mr Deol approached me for ‘Ghayal Once Again’, I was working on another project. I asked him to give me time to complete the earlier project and get working on his. Limited time usually leads to plagiarised content. I took a good month to complete it.”
Mishra, who has worked on umpteen TV commercials, is currently busy writing and composing songs for an upcoming thriller.
