MUMBAI: Remember the popular girl band ‘Aasma’ that made its way through TV show ‘Coke V Popstar’? The band successfully made two albums only to part ways after a few years, but its members are still holding music close to their hearts.
Radioandmusic.com recently caught up with one of the band members and you’d be surprised to know, what she is up to now.
Vasuuda Sharma, one of the prettiest in the band, has been doing some remarkable work in the independent space after composing music for Bollywood film ‘Shahrukh Bola Khubsurat Hai Tu’. In fact, her recent crowd-funded album ‘Attuned Spirits’ turned out to be one of the most talked about albums in the recent past.

Recently, this very artiste joined hands with Qyuki to produce a new single in collaboration with Ahmedabad-based singer-songwriter Nicolette Gore. The single is titled ‘Happy Place’.
However, this is not it. Sharma has created a solo project under which she will be calling herself Miss V. “Over a period of time, I have produced music on my own. Now, I want to explore the electronic space. I do not know where my sound is heading at the moment, but I am working towards it,” stated the singer-composer.
She added that she did brainstorm a lot to come up with a creative name for her solo project, but she ended up calling it ‘Miss V’. Miss stands for her single status, while V is the initial of her first name.
Other than working solo, Sharma also works with her band ‘Sharma and the Besharams’. The band was formed by Vasuda Sharma and the members of her band are — Rahul Hariharan on the drums, Chirayu Bedekar on bass, JK on Keys, Kush Upadhyay on electric Guitar and Chaitanya Bhindkar on Banjo. Sharma is the lead vocalist of the band and she also plays the ukulele.
The band has performed at various music festivals and is also looking to explore more. They are currently working on an EP.
“Though I am working on both my solo and band projects, the band is my priority at the moment,” confessed Sharma.
The singer-composer has composed songs for an upcoming Marathi film, though Bollywood still stays away.
