MUMBAI: Fans of The Beatles can expect to get their hands on some never heard before material by the Fab Four. 59 rare and unheard recordings by The Beatles will be released by record company Apple next week. This decision was taken to stop material from becoming public property due to a change in European copyright law.
It was reported that the compilation will include BBC sessions, four alternate versions of ‘She Loves You’ and five of ‘A Taste Of Honey’. No official statement is out but a spokeswoman for Apple records confirmed the release to the BBC.
According to EU law, it protects songs for 70 years after they are recorded, but only if they get an official release otherwise it is 50 years.

Last January, Sony released a four-CD set of 86 Bob Dylan tracks and was rather open about the reason behind the release, calling it ‘The Copyright Extension Collection Vol 1’.
In the past, there have been other artistes who had to make their material available. Bob Dylan’s record label rushed out 100 copies of an album last year containing early TV performances, alongside multiple versions of ‘Blowin’ in the Wind’, ‘Dream’ and ‘I Shall Be Free’.
Industry insiders claim that the new Beatles release could well become a trend, and could be the one of many more unreleased recording to surface in due course.
