MUMBAI: Universal Music has signed an exclusive recording-agreement with the internationally acclaimed sitarist, composer, and conductor Anoushka Shankar under the Deutsche Grammophon imprint.
Anoushka’s first Deutsche Grammophon recording, titled Traveller is produced by noted Spanish musician, songwriter, and producer Javier Lim??n and features renowned Indian and flamenco musicians.
Following the album’s October 2011 release there will be a comprehensive tour of Europe (November-December 2011), India (January 2012), as well as the US (in the spring 2012).
On the collaboration Deutsche Grammophon president Michael Lang said, We are thrilled to welcome Anoushka Shankar to Deutsche Grammophon. She follows in her illustrious father’s footsteps as she brings her virtuosity and musicianship to our label. Her debut album, Traveller, is a landmark recording — one that will transcend the borders of world music….

Deutsche Grammophon is a German classical record label which was the foundation of the future corporation to be known as PolyGram. It is now a part of Universal Music Group (UMG) since its acquisition and absorption of PolyGram in 1999, and it is also UMG’s oldest active label.
