Universal Music Publishing appoints Blue FrogÆs Malini Hariharan

MUMBAI: Universal Music Publishing today announced the appointment of Malini Hariharan as manager for its newly created production music department.

Universal Music Publishing India managing director Achille Forler says, “Malini is entrusted to introduce into the country the largest music library in the world for film, television and advertisement; she also has  the charge of working with cutting edge composers to create the first dedicated Indian music library that will become a part of our global production music portfolio.”

Prior to this appointment, Hariharan was business strategist at Blue Frog.

With over five years of experience, Hariharan has also worked at Sony Music Entertainment (New York and Mumbai) and The Orchard (New York).

Hariharan says, “Production music will be a new but lucrative income stream for music composers in the country and be of great service to music supervisors in film, TV and advertising industries because the music comes pre-cleared and pre-edited. I really look forward to sign soon some exceptionally talented composers and work closely with the film, advert and broadcasting industries.”

Hariharan holds a BA in Media Studies from Christ College, Bangalore, Diploma in audio engineering and has done MA in  Music Business from the New York University.

Recently, NS Padmanabhan of EMI was appointed as sr manager for Artistes & Repertoire (A&R) at Universal Music Publishing India.
