MUMBAI: Anyone who has a â€?Comes With Music’ account will now get access to over 11 million tracks for the year of their subscription and will also be able to keep them once the subscription is over.
This is because ‘Comes With Music’, the Nokia download service, is no more! Nokia is getting ready to re-brand its unlimited-free-music service as part of its Ovi services suite, after failing to make much of a success of it in its two years
Nokia had invested a huge amount for marketing ‘Comes With Music’ — a heavy outlay, with ad buys across London taxis, billboards and TV spots across Europe and elsewhere.

After about seven months, ‘Comes With Music’ had only about 107,000 users across nine countries, according to unofficial figures obtained at the time (official ones aren’t given). Speculation about wider changes than just the name will centre on whether Nokia will drop DRM or switch to a streaming model.
However, ‘Comes With Music ‘will soon become part of the Ovi family and change its name to Ovi Music Unlimited.
The plain old Ovi Music is still going, and will continue to be a source of downloadable tracks that you can play on your PC or other device as well as your phone. Ovi Music Unlimited will take ‘Comes With Music’s’ â€?all you can eat’ model and make it a proper part of the Ovi Music service.
Nokia are also promising a redesign of the site and client apps to reflect the change in brand as well as offering a faster way to search for music. Comes With Music can now nestle with maps, calendar, Ovi player and other features.
There is no date confirmed for the switch-over as yet, but Nokia will be notifying subscribers by email
In the meantime, Nokia has recommended not changing any of your account settings – particularly your contact details – to help ensure that the regime change goes as smoothly as possible.
The service offers users free music downloads to their registered PC and mobile for the life of a 12, 18 or 24-month contract, not moveable after expiry.
