MUMBAI: After crooning some of Bollywood’s more commercial songs like ‘Daingad Daingad’ from ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya’ and ‘Radha’ from ‘Student of the Year’, singer Udit Narayan is now turning his attention to more regional projects. This certainly comes as no surprise considering the ‘Papa Kehte Hai’ singer can sing in 35 languages.
“I have very few days in a month when I am not recording. By God’s grace, even after so many new singers, people still want to me sing. I have been singing songs in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Oriya, Bengali and various other languages. Recently, I recorded a song in Oriya which features the famous actor Anubhav Mohanty,” said Narayan. In addition to this, he confirmed that he will be crooning a number in the upcoming Dharma Productions film ‘Shuddhi’.
Narayan recently recorded a track for ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’, composed by Shankar Ehsaan Loy and penned by Prasoon Joshi. “It was Babul Supriyo who asked me to record the track, and I immediately agreed to sing it. I ran to the studio to dub the song, and I am really thankful to our honourable Prime Minister for making me a part of this campaign,” he further added.

Along with other singers like Sonu Nigam, Kailash Kher, Daler Mehndi and Asha Bhosale, Narayan performed on 2 October 2015 at India Today Safaigiri Singathon and Awards 2015 in Delhi, where Indian PM Narendra Modi, felicitated Clean Champions. “I had the honour of meeting the PM in July this year for the first time,” he said.
The singer will also be performing with his son Aditya Narayan in London after a decade. Narayan has prepared a special list of songs, including ‘Papa Kehte Hain’ from the film ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’ and ‘Main Yahan Hoon’ from the film ‘Veer Zaara’ for the same, and will soon begin rehearsals. Organised by Stardust, he concerts will be held on 24 and 25 October 2015.
