MUMBAI: Awards and honours are not an alien concept for Anu Malik.With three Filmfare awards, two Zee Cine Awards and a National award to his name, the composer has been entertaining music lovers for almost four decades. However, the 55-year-old music director acknowledges the refreshing sounds introduced to the industry, thanks to some of the young composers.
On Wednesday, Malik was honoured with Pride of the Industry award at Sansui Colors Stardust Awards, and the honours did not end there for the ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’ composer. The Showman of Bollywood – Subhash Ghai – honoured Malik during an event celebrating his contribution to music and film industry. The 2001-release ‘Yaadein’, starring Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor, resulted in a great bonding between the two celebrated personalities of the industry.
Constant success and consistent popularity have not affected Malik’s love for awards and recognition, and the respect and trophies still count as a huge deal for Malik.

“It was a great moment. People are saying I fought back. Today, young composers are very talented and I believe they are doing a fantastic job. Getting an award amongst such talented people. I take it as a personal victory. It was an emotional moment for me,” said the composer at the felicitation ceremony, organised by Videocon.
Malik won the Best Music Director for ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’ at Zee Cine award, and the singer-cum-composer points out the recent success amidst the competition has made the recognition even sweeter.
“I also received Zee Cine award, which was a huge moment for me. My work was nominated alongside movies like “Tamasha”, “Bajirao Mastani”, “Roy” and “Dil Dhadakne Do”. All are superb… but ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’ was selected. It is a big thing,” he said.
