NEW DELHI: The Government today said that every FM Radio permission holder under Phase III has to ensure that at least twenty per cent of the day’s programming (midnight to midnight) has to be in the local language of that city and promotes local content.
Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore said that this had been provided for under clause 15.1 of Policy Guidelines on Expansion of FM Radio broadcasting services through private agencies Phase-III.
He told the Rajya Sabha that this may include the Radio jockeys speaking in local language(s)/dialect(s) or programmes focused on local culture/tradition/folk music etc.

It may also include other permissible programmes/advertisements in the local language(s)/dialect(s).
He said in answer to another question that no private FM channel was working at present with Government help.
