MUMBAI: Popular classical music series Idea Jalsa -Music for the Soul that was first aired on Doordarshan will now be heard on All India Radio
Producer of Idea Jalsa and Art and Artistes director Durga Jasraj told Radioandmusic.com that the music from the first season of the TV series will be up on AIR channels (FM Rainbow and Gold) across Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai. The program will air five times a week from 10 -10:30 PM
“Listeners will be able to hear stellar performances by Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia, Pt. Jasraj, and even contemporaries like Shankar Mahadevan,” she said. The performances will be specially encapsulated for the radio listeners, and though many music lovers may have watched their performances on television, Jasraj believes that music by these maestro’s is timeless.

Jalsa is already reaching out to various segments of listeners through regional channels like DD Punjabi, DD Sahyadri and DD Gujarati and has fetched loyal listener ship. With Jalsa’s music now on the radio platform, classical music is set for a wider reach.
