Mumbai: Popular radio jockey Malishka, who has raised RED FM`s `bajao` campaign to an activist level in the last few months, has been receiving a lot of television offers lately.Malishka, known for her chirpy voice, witty one liners and spontaneous talk, says she has received offers that would feature her in roles that would reinforce her current task – that of raising a voice against apathy, or for youth oriented shows, those that would involve her in venturing out and mingling with the people… “Essentially, these are offers that would utilise my personality,” says the effervescent RJ, whose Morning Number One show on the station completed two years on air on 1 August 2007. While Malishka is not averse to taking up fresh assignments that would allow her to extend her creative abilities, she is not ready to quit radio for TV `at this point`, as she categorically maintains.
Before joining RED FM, Malishka who did a stint with Rediff radio, shot to popularity with her morning show on Win 94.6 five years ago. Known then for her chirpy wit, Malishka is now known more for her capacity to empathise with listeners when they call in with their woes about an apathetic city administration. The RJ, who initially preferred anonymity, has been in the last few days visiting various areas in the city to meet listeners in the course of the `bajao` campaign. If she does take to TV, Malishka will not be the first RJ to do so. Tarana Raja Kapoor, a long time RJ on Radio One, has dabbled with roles in television serials, and has anchored several TV shows. Siddharth Kannan, who started with All India Radio, now co-hosts a show, Santa and Banta, on Zoom.
