MUMBAI: Art of Living is all set to commence its three-day cultural event today on the Yamuna floodplains from 5 pm onwards. The World Culture Festival 2016 is a celebration of The Art of Living’s 35 years of service to humanity, spirituality and human values.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to inaugurate the much talked about event. Actor Priyanka Chopra is expected to host the jamboree, while the event might witness the presence of Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, Sir Richard Branson and former police officer Kiran Bedi as well.
Music is going to be an integral part of the programme. Here is the list of Day One’s performances.
Program details (Day 1)
- 40 musicians will play Nadaswaram, the world’s loudest non-brass acoustic instrument
- Invocation by Grammy Nominee Chandrika Tandon and troupe
- Vedic Chants by 1000 Veda Pandits
- The Art of Living Grand Symphony of 8500 musicians will play 40 different instruments
- Inaugural Address by Prime Minister Narendra Modi
- Kathak Ensemble by 1000 artists from different Gharana
- Bharatnatyam Ensemble by 1000 artists
- 500 artists will perform the Horo Dance from Bulgaria
- African Beats, a percussion extravaganza by 650 drummers from the vibrant continent of Africa
- Mohiniyattam and Kathakali by 1500 artists
- Whirling Dervish, a mesmerizing performance by 121 dervishes from Turkey
- Awa Odori from Japan Awa Odori, a traditional Japanese dance by 100 artists
- Over 100 dancers perform the authentic Lithuanian folkfore elements representing the ancient Baltic symbols
- 100 artists will bring the exuberance and energy of Brazilian Sambha, a much-loved dance form
- An artist group from Sverdlovsk region of Russia will present their traditional Russian Dance
- A tribute by 35 renowned playback singers and musicians from Indian Film Industry honoring 35 years of the Art of Living
- 1000 dancers from the Himalayan state of Himachal Pradesh, India will perform Himachali Nati, a folk dance enjoyed by people of all ages
- Thai dance by 300 dancers from Thailand will perform their national dance
- Gujarati Garba dance by over 1000 dancers, the traditional folk dance from the vibrant state of Gujarat
- The Art of Living Grand Symphony of 8500 musicians will play 40 different instruments
- Guided meditation conducted by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
