MUMBAI: Music label Tips is set to launch the debut album of new age Sufi artiste, Krishna titled Ishq Gali Naa Jaiyo…. The singer who has earlier rendered popular numbers like â€?Maula mere’ from Chak de India and â€?Zindagi mein koi’ from Musafir would be launching his first non-film album.
The album has eight tracks and is composed by Krishna himself, Sachin Gupta of “Doorie” fame and music composer duo “Prakash-Ashish” who have done the “Maaheru” album earlier. The songs are not limited to only Sufi genre but also have a track with a folk feel. The album is meant for music lovers who look for melody, meaningful lyrics and soul stirring vocals in an album….
The lyrics of the album have been penned by Faaiz Anwar who had earlier composed for Tum Bin apart from Rohit Sharma , Krishna and Shellee. The lyrics of the album convey universal emotions of love, pain, betrayal and would connect with the audiences….
Krishna started his career in Bollywood with Sanjay Dutt’s films. Even I came to Mumbai for singing opportunities, I approached Sanjay Dutt rather than any music director. I dropped my CD recorded with my covers of Nusrat Fateh Ali’s songs and I got a call within three days. I got four projects, Musafir, Deewaar, Rudhraksh and Rakht.”
Krishna recently won the Stardust award (2008) for the best playback singer category for the song Maula Mere… from the movie Chak de India. The vocalist has earlier rendered his voice to Bollywood films like Zinda, Dus, Sarkat, Shaadi No. 1, Deewane huye pagal, Aashiq Banaya Aapne, Musafir etc. Not many people know that Krishna worked for UAE Radio Um-Al-Quwain as Radio Jockey , Music Composer and Singer.
Among his forthcoming movies are Raaz – the mystery continues, Hallo Hum Lallan Bol Rahe Hain, Vash, Ghaav, Bekhabar, Flat, Teri Bahon Mein, Who Aadmi bahut Kuch Janta Tha, Yun Sath Chalen, Tere Mere Sapne, V the Team and an English movie, The Bolian Mind etc.
Tips will also be re-launching Jagjit Singh’s Guru Manyo Granth in many cities in the month of October. The label will be launching a special edition of four CD featuring 32 Shabads recited by renowned singers like Jagjit Singh, Ustad Rashid Khan, Pandit Ajay Chakrabarty, Begum Parveen Sultana, Dr Gurnaam Singh, Anup Jalota, Shankar Mahadevan, Hariharan, Suresh Wadkar, Sonu Nigam, Hansraj Hans, Roop Kumar Rathod,Kailash Kher, Shafaqat Amanat Ali, Dilraj Kaur,Sadhana Sargam, Ashwini B Deshpande, Jayshri Shivram,Richa Sharma and Juhi Chawla.
The music for the entire album has been composed by Jagjit Singh with the help of Dr. Gurnam Singh of Punjabi University. The album was earlier formally launched in Nanded on 7 October by Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
Recently, Tips had launched Indian Idol contestant Amit Tandon’s debut album, â€?Tanha’ composed by Sachin Gupta and Santokh. Tips Industries’ artiste managemement arm has signed on 15 musicians, who will be promoted aggressively by the company, which will produce their albums and do a 360 degree promotion.
