MUMBAI: Tie-ups with international labels and retailers seems to be focus for the Bennett Coleman group backed Times Music this year.
Times Music has entered into an agreement with Malaysia based Agi Music for licensing its content over the digital and mobile space. Says Times Music COO Adarsh Gupta, The majority of population in Malaysia are south Indians so, we want to pump our Tamil, spiritual and classical music catalogue. Apart from that, we would also be plugging our Bollywood content and other catalogues through this deal….
Agi Music would be launching a digital store, www.saayee.com by the middle of this year and would be listing Times Music along with music from other labels.
Recognising the market for online music, Times Music would also be hosting music on its official website – www.timesmusic.com. Currently under construction, the website is inviting people to have a pre-release preview of the website and revert with feedback for introducing changes in the current format.
Last year, Times Music had tied up with iMusti.com, a premier online music portal for Indian music. iMusti members are found in 35 different countries, the top regions being the Unites States, India, Europe, Malaysia , Singapore and Australia. The Times Group had in January 2009 signed a long term administration agreement with music rights management company Music Copyright Solutions. This agreement collects retransmission income/secondary rights and public performance income and the equivalent throughout the territory except India.
