Times, Music Copyright Solutions ink deal

MUMBAI: The Times Group has signed a long term administration agreement with music rights management company Music Copyright Solutions.

The deal will see Music Copyright manage the collection of royalties for the Times Group’s diversified film and entertainment rights. Income from all music publishing areas is included in the contract, which covers all countries except India. In addition, Music Copyright will collect retransmission income/secondary rights and public performance income and the equivalent throughout the territory.

Since the early 1990s, the Times group has diversified into an integrated film and entertainment company covering radio (including Absolute Radio in the UK), internet, multi-media and music. Times Music, the group’s music production and distribution arm has been producing several albums in the spiritual and devotional genres, including The Golden Raaga Collection, Gayatri Mantra, Himalayan Chants and Hanuman Chalisa.

Music Copyright chief executive Justin Sherry has been quoted as saying that he was delighted to sign such an all encompassing media rights collection agreement with one of India’s largest media companies.
