MUMBAI: Legendary rock band The Who has been announced as the final headliner for the upcoming Glastonbury Festival. Their performance at the popular music festival will be a part of their current on-going 50th anniversary tour. The ‘My Generation’ hit-makers’ last appearance at the Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts was in 2007.
According to various online reports, lead singer Roger Daltrey exclaimed his excitement at performing once more at the coveted festival. He said that concluding this part of his 50 year career at “the most prestigious and respected music festival in the world” is great. He added that the band would give it their all to close this year’s Glastonbury festival.
Recently, The Who was forced to postpone three concert dates as Daltrey is suffering from swollen vocal cords. The 71 year old musician will be joined by the only remaining core member of the original group, guitarist Pete Townshend. The band released a compilation album last October called ‘The Who Hits 50!’, which included their brand new track ‘Be Lucky’. It is the first original The Who track since their 2006 studio album ‘Endless Wire’.

The Who will be headlining the Glastonbury Festival on its last day, Sunday 28 June, with Kanye West scheduled to perform on Saturday, 27 June and rock band Foo Fighters on Friday, 26 June.
