Techzone strengthens foothold in music business

MUMBAI: Leading content aggregator Techzone is fast tracking its plans to give majority of media houses an entry into the emerging mobile and digital world. With an aim to help them monetize content and drive up the VAS business, the company is swiftly enabling the platform for media houses across the country.

After signing deals with numerous television channels and radio stations, Techzone also made its foray into the music space with channels like 9XO and recently Vh1. Taking this step further, they are now in talks to associate with Matrubhumi Group’s news channel and music channel Kappa.

Confirming the news with Radioandmusic.com, Techzone MD Naveen Bhandari said, “There is a lot of music content available today, which can be monetized onto the mobile platform as well. We started off in the space with 9XO and moved on to Vh1. Now we have also teamed up with the south based Matrubhumi group to monetize the content from their news and music channel.”

The aim is to convert the push based products to pull based so consumers can have an experience of the content on mobile and consume it effectively. Bhandari also stated that the company has invested more than four crores approximately to develop all platforms, and is stated to invest an amount between 1-3 crore for the venture with Matrubhumi as well.

While Matrubhumi officials refused to divulge any details and stated that they are still in talks, Techzone stated that the deal has been signed and further details are being worked upon.

“We have entered into a three year agreement with the channel, and are currently in talks to explore the method of offering content to the audience. We are working on the phases and content that will be available,” stated Bhandari.

Techzone already has its presence in the markets of Punjab, Kerala, West Bengal and more. Aiming to further the expansion, the company is now also looking to approach media houses in Andhra Pradesh, and have also signed a deal with some of them.
