MUMBAI: After signing deals with numerous television channels and radio stations, Techzone has now inked a two-year deal with MTunes HD which will allow viewers and followers of the channel to access the content on mobile.
Techzone made its foray into the music space with channels like 9XO and recently Vh1. Taking this step further, they have also teamed up with Matrubhumi Group’s news channel and music channel Kappa. The aim is to convert the push based products to pull based so consumers can have an experience of the content on mobile and consume it effectively.
Confirming the news with Radioandmusic.com, Techzone MD Naveen Bhandari had stated that the company has invested more than Rs 4 crore approximately to develop all platforms, and is expected to invest an amount between Rs 1-3 crore for the venture with Matrubhumi as well.

“We have entered into a three year agreement with the channel, and are currently in talks to explore the method of offering content to the audience. We are working on the phases and content that will be available,” stated Bhandari.
In its association with MTunes HD, Techzone will provide MTunes HD with short messaging services (SMS) and caller ring back tones (CRBT) services and will also let MTunes HD use Techzone’s shortcode for their promotional and interactive activities.
MTunes HD will flash a CRBT and song download keyword for every single song that belongs to Techzone. Also, MTunes will create a WAP page and a WAPlet (A WAP icon that will rest on a handset post downloading it) which will showcase the WAP content of the movies which will be provided to MTunes HD by Techzone. Mtunes HD will also include a few of their own IP properties namely M Originals and whatever new they create in the future.
Bhandari said, “Bollywood music thrives in the blood of the Indian audience and MTunes HD is one such music channel to provide pure, unadulterated Bollywood music in HD to the living rooms of the Indian audience. Our agreement with MTunes will ensure that this music which MTunes shares with you everyday is now accessible on your mobile handsets too. We wish to serve MTunes with a vast library of Bollywood content which can be accessed on mobile.”
MTunes CEO Saravanan said, “Our association with Techzone will facilitate our viewers to set the songs they watch on our channel as caller tunes and download them on their mobile. We are happy to associate with Techzone and are delighted to have taken a step further in reaching out to our viewers.”
Techzone already has its presence in the markets of Punjab, Kerala, West Bengal and more. Aiming to further the expansion, the company is now also looking to approach media houses in Andhra Pradesh, and have also signed a deal with some of them.
