MUMBAI: Continuing her winning streak, Taylor Swift once again emerged as the big winner with five honours at Teen Choice Awards 2012 held yesterday at Los Angeles’ Gibson Amphitheatre.
The 22-year-old singer-and-actress bagged the honours for Choice Female Music Artist, Choice Single by a Female Artist (“Eyes Open”), Choice Country Song (Sparks Fly), Choice Female Country Artist and Choice Movie Voice (for Audrey in Dr. Suess’ The Lorax). Swift is registered as the first female artiste to win most number of surf trophies making the total to 20.
Teen pop sensation Bieber, who performed medley of ‘Boyfriend’ and ‘As Long as You Love Me’ also swept four awards including Choice Male Artist and Choice Single by Male Artist bringing his Teen Choice Awards total to 12 trophies.
Following Bieber with three trophies were British boy band One Direction who bagged honours for Choice Summer Music Star, Breakout Group and Choice Love Song ‘What Makes You Beautiful’. Other winners who accepted the honours include Selena Gomez (Choice Music Group), Ellen DeGeneres (Choice Comedian), Zac Efron (Choice Drama Actor), The Twilight Saga (Ultimate Choice Award), Demi Lovato (Choice Summer Music Star: Female), Carly Rae Jepsen (Choice Music: Breakout Artist and Choice Summer Song ‘Call Me Maybe) and Nicki Minaj (Choice R&B/Hip-Hop Artist and song). The award show also honoured artistes like Fun (Choice Rock Group), Coldplay (Choice Rock Song: Paradise), David Guetta (Choice Electronic Dance Music (EDM) Artist), Hunter Hayes (Choice Male Country Artist), Lady Antebellum (Choice Country Group) and Maroon 5 featuring Wiz Khalifa (Choice Break-Up Song Payphone).
The two-hour awards show was hosted by former Disney Channel actress and current ‘X Factor’ judge Demi Lovato and ‘Glee’ star Kevin McHale.
