MUMBAI: After the first single ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’, American pop-country singer Taylor Swift finally released her highly anticipated fourth studio album ‘Red’ on 22 October. The album has already shot up iTunes since its midnight release.
The album which is claimed to be a collection of personal, emotional and honest songs, was released at midnight on Monday and earned a top spot on the iTunes chart within 12 hours. The tracks ‘State of Grace’ and ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’ are at No. 1 and 2 on the songs chart.
The singer is said to have taken a new approach with her latest effort by mixing different sounds and working with new writers.

Speaking with MTV about the album and fans reaction, Swift said, “This is a crazy feeling. I mean, these are songs that I’ve worked on for two years and worked so hard to make different from everything I’ve done before, and the fans are really getting that. I love that they understand that this is something completely new, and it’s just a wonderful feeling. They are all telling me their favorites. It’s so much fun, because their favorites determine my set list for my shows on tour next year. It determines a lot, so I’m just loving seeing the iTunes [songs] chart and getting to see which ones are floating to the top, and I will sit there and go, ‘I didn’t expect that. That’s a really personal, emotional song. I didn’t expect that to be right there at the top of the iTunes chart.”
Swift has undertaken extensive promotional plans for the album, including a live performance in Times Square on ‘Good Morning America’. The country singer will also appear as guest and performer on ‘The Late Show With David Letterman’ at 10:35 pm on CBS network, Channel 6. She will also visit and perform at the show ‘The View’ on 24 October and will make a concert appearance on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ at 25 October. Swift will also guest star on ABC’s ‘Katie’ special show “All Access Nashville With Katie Couric – A Special Edition of 20/20,” and will be featured with Carrie Underwood, Reba McEntire, Miranda Lambert and others on 26 October.
The 22-year-old country singer debuted in 2006 and since then the golden platinum gal has already amassed 50 Billboard Hot 100 hits on the chart. Often described as ‘America’s sweetheart’, Swift is known for her hook-laden, narrative songs about her experiences as a teenager and young adult. As a songwriter, she has been honoured by the Nashville Songwriters Association and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Swift’s other achievements include six Grammy Awards, ten American Music Awards, seven Country Music Association Awards, six Academy of Country Music Awards and thirteen BMI Awards. She has sold over 22 million albums and 50 million song downloads worldwide.
