Only a few days ago, Aditya Anand, better known as Tatva Kundalini released a video of his acoustic track ‘Badri Re’ as the official video soundtrack for the book Oath of the Vayuputras, the last from the Shiva Trilogy by writer Amisha Tripathi. Now the progressive techno producer will be releasing a two-song EP ‘Boom’ on 27 February. The EP will be available for free downloads on his website, all social networks and the Chill Om Records website as well.

The EP will consist of two remixes of his track ‘Badri Re’ which has been sung by Euphoria frontman Dr. Palash Sen. Revealing some details about these remixes, Aditya said, “The video of ‘Badri Re’ is generating rave reviews. Some old school electronic friends were after me to do something new with the same old school influence. The remixes are very different; one is hard core UK underground style drum n’ bass with a melodic and progressive house feel. The other remix is a dance track with a very commercial club-banger vibe. It starts with chants ‘Har Har Mahadev’. These two are for the long time fans and international fans. I had to re-record Dada (Palash Sen) for them.”

Aditya was approached by Rajesh Sharma, owner of a record label called Free Spirit, to give ‘Badri Re’ for the series of books. “He spoke to me about the series of books written by Amish Tripathi and how there will soon be a feature film on it and so on. They wanted something that was different; not electronic, something more organic and ethnic. Amish rewrote the existing lyrics of the song to suit the book and Dada also tweaked a couple of lyrics here and there; a whole lot of people came together to do it and the album got released.” Tatva has also done a different version of the track with Rahul Ram years ago for Delhi Based folk rock band- Indian Ocean.

But the music producer was initially quite hesitant about taking up the project. He said, “The project would have been commercial and Badri Re as a track has been with me for about 15 years and it is something that is very close to my heart. Hence I was hesitant. I never wanted to undersell the whole thing. Eventually it turned out well. Amish really wanted it and they said Times Music is going to release it, and since I am close to Times, they urged me to do it too.”

The video was shot in Spiti Valley with a 12 member crew and a dog stuffed into two cars with a budget of a whopping Rs. 5.5Lakh. Sharing his experience about the trip, Aditya explained, “We converted the book’s concept of today’s new age Kalyug in today’s world. The book questions what evil is but we thought of talking about all the good instead. I was beginning to give up on the video but the crew was pumped. 50kg of chicken went from Delhi in the car. It was a cook-out thrice a day. But truly, Spiti ne hume humari aukat ldikha di.”

A die-hard Euphoria fan, Aditya has a chance to work with Palash Sen who he describes as an elder brother. “When I was in class 10, I had sent him an email saying that I will work with him someday. I had gone for one of his shows and Dada called me backstage and he asked me “Addy, when am I doing a song with you?” 14 years since that mail, this has happened. I have been very close to Euphoria all these years. When I am down, his hug is all I need. He has helped me turn my life around completely.”

Having been off the grid for a very long time, the artiste speaks about where he has been. “I spent 10 years of my life just gigging every weekend. You get married once. You might as well enjoy it. I have been taking it easy for the past 3-4 years since I got married. I shifted base from Goa to Delhi. I wanted to come and stay with my parents. Honestly, I had become sick of the scene. I think I outgrew the whole electronic scene in my head.”

The owner of Chill Om Records in Delhi now works in a 4000 sq ft. recording facility with state of the art equipment. He also has an academy where he, along with the crew, teaches and helps people get hands on experience on the gear. According to him, the studio is his stable income and it is not something he can compromise with.

Divulging information about his upcoming projects, Aditya said eagerly, “From now on every track that I do will have a music video. Within a fortnight, we will be releasing a track called ‘Ganga Nahale’ which is also another acoustic track. We shot it in a very beautiful location called Orchha in Madhya Pradesh. I will be bouncing off remixes for that as well. Then there will be another track called ‘Bajao Magar Pyaar Se’ coming out with Tanya Nambiar, lead vocalist of Delhi based rock n’ roll band Gravy Train. It is stuff that sells. It has an army man’s British vibe on it and full power. Anyone who believes in the whole independent intellectual music funda will like it; at the same time, it will also be slammed in the rickshaw. I think I am going to kick some ass this year.”
