MUMBAI: UK based artiste and producer Arjun, who has in the last few years become a YouTube sensation by releasing a number of hit remixes, will now have another platform to promote his talent. Earlier this year he was signed on by giant label T-Series and will be releasing a new album under its banner this May.
The British singer/ songwriter will also be releasing a brand new single titled ‘I’ll Be Waiting (Kabhi Jo Baadal Barse)’ under T-Series on 23 April, which will feature on his upcoming album. A 30 second teaser for the track has already made waves after it managed to garner about 300,000 YouTube views within just four days, since its release on 17 April.
Originally sung by Arijit Singh, the forthcoming track is an English mix that has been given an R&B vibe, and has been written, composed and sung by Arjun. The track is a soft romantic, and includes a lot of “piano, guitars and strings”, which bring out the original track’s classic melody. In the past Arjun has remixed and mashed-up several other tracks owned by T-Series including ‘Chammak Challo’, ‘Teri Meri’ and ‘Tum Hi Ho’, for which he has amassed almost 30 million views on YouTube.

Speaking about his deal with T-Series Arjun said, “As a musician hailing from the UK who creates a fusion of eastern and western music, I am really happy to have signed a deal with India’s largest and most forward-thinking record company. I was extremely excited when I got a call from T-Series, telling me that they wanted to take me on board. I want to really push boundaries as a non play-back artiste and make music that appeals to an international audience, while staying true to my roots.”
Arjun also added that ‘Kabhi Jo Baadal’ is one of his favourite Bollywood songs of recent years and has been keen on creating his own interpretation of it. He has become a prominent name in the UK Asian music scene mainly because of his blending of eastern and western sounds. Arjun also won the award for ‘Best Urban Act’ at the Asian Music Awards in 2012.
