MUMBAI: Indians had a brief moment of glory when country’s top musical T-Series, on Saturday late evening, once again overtook PewDiePie to become the number one YouTube channel, albeit, shortly. The battle between PewDiePie and T-series, for the maximum number of subscribers, has been long-standing and continuous. In the last six months, PewDiePie has majorly dominated the race, however, T-series has given a tough fight to the Swedish gamer Felix Kjellberg’s PewDiePie.
On Saturday, T-Series managed to overtake PewDiePie, however for not more than five minutes. The good sign for Indians is that in past one month, this is the second time that T-series overtook and for three minutes in excess of the current five minutes.
In case T-Series eventually wins the battle, it will be surely make history by beating the Swedish gamer, whose channel has held the mantle for the most followed channel on the video platform for six years now.
Last week, the Chairman and Managing Director of the Indian record label, Bhushan Kumar, had urged Indians to contribute in making history by tweeting, “We’re on the brink of becoming the world’s biggest @YouTube channel. We can make history. We can make India win. Subscribe to @TSeries #BharatWinsYouTube
“There is an Indian YouTube channel on the brink of becoming World`s No.1. It has taken us a lot of effort to come this far. To take my father Mr. Gulshan Kumar`s dream forward, I started this channel. Today, it belongs to you, to the entire nation. It`s a historic moment for all of us. So let`s come together and subscribe to T-Series YouTube channel and make India proud,” he said in a video message.
PewDiePie tweeted the same day, “They are getting desperate.” Their efforts to keep T-Series behind is not limited tweeting. It is observed that every time, the Indian record giant comes close to beating the Swedish channel, the latter channel’s legion of followers gang up to keep it behind. Some even go to the extent of hacking printers, Chromecasts and defacing the Wall Street Journal (WSJ).
The whole of India looks forward for a history to be made by T-Series.
