MUMBAI: After consistently working for the LGBTQ community in India, Swedish musician Petter Wallenberg, who is also the founder of Rainbow Riots – an international LGBTQ organization, is all set to release India’s first pride anthem, Love Is Love.
Peter, who has collaborated with many queers during his two-year-long stay in India, is coming up with Rainbow Riots India, which is an upcoming music album and advocacy project. The music album is a part of the movement that led to the historic victory in out times when it comes to human rights i.e. the demolition of Section 377 that criminalized homosexuality in September 2018. This historic step gave freedom to Indians to choose their partner irrespective of gender after 157 years.
“This isn’t just music – it’s the sound of India’s rainbow revolution”, says Petter Wallenberg. He further adds, “When I first arrived in India nearly two years ago, as a gay man – I was a criminal. But soon I was part of a revolution, right at the heart of the biggest victory for equality in our time.”

Petter Wallenberg is announcing the first single Love Is Love, out on 2 April 2019, featuring India’s first openly gay celebrity and drag queen, Sushant Divgikar. Love Is Love is India’s first Pride anthem, a mix of classic Western dance music with both English and Hindi lyrics. The music video also features India’s first transgender dance group Dancing Queens and was filmed at India’s first legally recognized Pride in Mumbai in February this year.
“The single Love Is Love speaks about equal love about being true to one’s authentic self”, says Sushant Divgikar. He further adds, “This track is very close to my heart and spreads the message that love always wins. This is a great time for this to be introduced to the world and a new India that finally allows people to love freely and without fear.”
Meanwhile, Love Is Love feat. Sushant Divgikar will soon release on major digital platforms including iTunes and Spotify etc, on 2 April 2019.
