MUMBAI: Cheering Indian contingents in a musical way for London Olympics 2012, lyricist Swanand Kirkire and composer Shantanu Moitra have recorded a special anthem.
Titled ‘Aap agar saath hain, toh jeet bhi saath hai’ urges every Indian citizen to support and salute our sporting heroes in their quest for gold, silver and bronze medals at the Olympics. The morale boosting track rendered by Monali Thakur, Joy Barua and Rajdeep charts the journey of different sports through their icons in the hinterlands. The three-minute anthem was launched last week at the Talkatora Stadium in Delhi.
Speaking about the track with Radioandmusic.com, Kirkire said, “The song gives out the message that ‘It’s time to cheer’. It was composed to cheer the Indian team at the games and celebrate the fact that they have qualified for such a prestigious event. It was a really great experience composing this track and we feel honoured that we gave the Indian team such a fitting tribute.”
The track is part of an initiative undertaken by Google India to encourage youngsters to step up and support the Indian athletes. Aiming to popularise the viewership of the games and gather support for the athletes from their hometowns, YouTube has flagged off a YouTube Bus for Olympics, which will travel across nine key cities including hometowns of the athletes from Punjab and Haryana.
The bus will offer an opportunity to watch the Games live on YouTube and learn more about the history of Indian athletes at the Olympics. The track is currently streaming live on YouTube and will also play on the Google YouTube bus. The bus has 10 screens with headphones and internet connection where different games will be streamed live simultaneously. People can go into the bus and watch their favourite players or games live in action. Google promoters in the bus will guide the visitors.
