MUMBAI: On the Candolim beach in Goa, thousands of pairs of feet with their dancing shoes and Santa hats entered to experience VH1 Supersonic unfold on the first day of its third year. The counters were set, and the Laboratoire stage, curated by the UKF Arms & House, produced the first act of the day through DJ Lasker. Known for his house mixes, Lasker returned to Supersonic to play the first set of the festival when the sun was up and bright.
Supersonic finds pride in its continuous approach to provide unique lineups, and the organisers did not compromise on another vital element that concerns multi-act dance festival – the scheduling of the acts.

Awakenings Stage
The techno stage curated by the world famous Dutch concert organisers Awakenings made its debut on the sands of Goa, and techno fans not only made the most of the artists who played throughout the day on the stage, but got a glimpse of what makes the stage unique and a treat for the eyes. With a futuristic theme, lasers and pyros, the stage set on one corner of the venue opened with Kohra, followed by arguably India’s biggest name in techno scene – Arjun Vagale. Adam Beyer concluded the Day 1 of Supersonic on the Awakenings stage that also hosted Swedish DJ Ida Engberg and Dutch techno master Bart Skills.
The management and activities
Arrangements have been made by the organisers to ensure everything sails smoothly. With friendly personnel at every corner and approachable distances, the focus is clearly on maintaining a balance between ‘having a good time’ and ‘doing it responsibly’. As the organisers had promised before the event, free water bottles were made available to tackle dehydration, and well equipped first aid counters were near every stage. Barring the lack-of-space at the box office for the queue, the venue can easily hold up to twice the number of fans that attended Day 1. What added to an already pleasurable evening were the engagement activities on the ground like 270 degree dome animation set at the centre.
Disclosure
The British electronic duo’s debut set in India was undoubtedly the highlight of the Day 1. The Lawrence duo performed while two dancers provided a visual art form with elements of fire and props. Imaginative, conceptual compositions and rhythmic ideas were the pillars of the duo’s act and revellers surely loved what Disclosure offered for over ninety minutes. Disclosure had a year in 2015 they’d never want to forget about, and they managed to provide the same emotion to their fans at Goa. That they are masters in the studio is a well-established fact, but the attendees finally found out that Disclosure can indeed throw a great party.
