MUMBAI: Despite rumours of cancellation and a small fire at the venue, electronic music festival Sunburn came to life at Vagator, Goa. Thousands of music lovers from across 50 countries gathered for the dance music powerhouse.
The main highlight was the 200 plus Main Stage, titled ‘Empire of the Sun’, which was inspired by Indian ethnicity with cranium of Ashoka on the centre stage chariot, highlighting the upcoming year anniversary of the dance music brand. Along with it, the arena had four stages divided into House/Trance/Electronic, Techno/Deep House and Psychedelic, respectively. This edition of Sunburn also had on-site camping, food courts, flee market and adventure sports to give it a carnival atmosphere.
On the first day of the four day festival, artists from around the world created magic with their music. Sam Feldt on main stage took charge of deep house with his most popular song, ‘Show Me Love’. The performances which followed Feldt’s were by Dyro, Nucleya, Paji, Paperqueen and Juliet Sikora.

The day concluded with the current No.1 DJs in the world on DJ Mag’s annual Top 100 DJs poll, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. They enchanted the crowd with their famous hits like, ‘Waves’, ‘Wakanda’ and ‘Mammoth’.
Speaking on the kick off, Percept Limited joint managing director Shailendra Singh said, “Always felt that dance has the power to unite people and to make the social reference. We have grown each day since the start in 2007. Now with 9th edition, we have tourists from more than 50 countries, which is a landmark.”
He further added, “We are very happy that we got the top most world DJs in Sunburn as Headliner. As we are stepping into 10th year we want to make the festival bigger with every passing day.”
Day 2 will feature artists like KYGO, the Norwegian DJ who will be playing in India for the first time and opening sets by Anish Sood. More artists like Sam Feldt, Blurry Slur, Bassjackers, Echofloat and Candice Redding will keep the music madness going.
