MUMBAI: Ronkini Gupta, who is the winner of Saregamapa World Series reality show in 2004, has crooned the song Chaav Laga for the Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor starrer, Sui Dhaaga, which released recently. The singer has co-sung the song with Papon.

Spilling beans on how this song fell into her kitty, Ronkini revealed, “Anu Malik sir called me to sing two songs for the movie, Sui Dhaga. While Chaav Laga is sung by me and Papon, the second song, Tu Hi Aham, from the movie, is sung by only me.”

“Anu Malik wanted me because he was looking for a trained voice with ‘tayyari’ and ‘unique flavour’. It was a complete honour to sing along with Papon who is such a celebrated voice today. And Tu Hi Aham was a blessing because female solo songs are a rarity today. I was fortunate that a full song came my way, where I could show my prowess as a singer,” she further added.
She is the same voice who was applauded for her unique texture in the song Rafu from Tumhari Sulu for which she went on to be nominated for Filmfare Best Playback Singer award 2018.
The artist, who always aspired to become a singer, has been taking training in Indian classical music since past 25 years.
Also when asked to choose between Bollywood playback singing and independent music, Gupta told, “As of now, I am following and maintaining balance between both and there is no such thing as preference. If there is good work coming, I would accept it whole heartedly.”
Ronkini, whose favourite singer happens to be Sunidhi Chauhan concluded, “I am really excited and honored seeing Chaav Laga topping the charts and want to do more and more such amazing projects.”
Ronkini also recently recorded for the upcoming Gujarati movie, which will be releasing soon.
