MUMBAI: The Indie rock scene have quite some musician-enterpreuners taking the lead to push the scene. The latest is the Resonate Music Award 2009 initiated by Deepak Rao, lead guitarist and vocalist of Banglore based band Shrapnel
The Resonate Music Award may not be offering money, but gives potential bands something even more important – free studio
time, mixing and mastering costs for a full length album “and provide guidance to the recipients on how to market this brand new album to achieve maximum impact,” states their official website.
Getting studio time for album recording remains the best deal for bands as recording costs can go as high as Rs 70,000 to Rs 1,20,000 and also varies from the kind of producer a band works with. For Resonate Music Award, the bands/ solo artistes would be selected by some of well known musicians from the indie rock circuit and ChrisAvinash (a well known Bangalore based musician) will record the band at his new studio ‘Christortion’. The other team members include Sahil Makhija (Demonic Resurrection) and Nolan Lewis (founding member of Kryptos)
Demonic Resurrection frontman Sahil Makhija says, “Bands and solo artistes from across the country and belonging to any genre
can participate,” he says, “We are also extending the dates of submissions to 1 September,” he revealed. Though the award is open to all, those outside Bangalore will have to bear their own travel and accomodation expense if selected states the official website http://resonate.in/
The dates of submissions for the awards have been extended from 20 August to 1 September,2009 so that more bands can participate.
