BENGALURU: Indian cinema’s multi-faceted doyen SP Balasubrahmanyam will be performing at the ‘Jana Mana Jathre 2013’, a cultural extravaganza organized by the Rajajinagar Sports & Cultural Association. The loose meaning of Jana Mana Jathre is Peoples Cultural Festival in which all genres of arts and human expression including painting participate. Rajajinager is a suburb of Bengaluru.
Balasubrahmanyam will perform on 16 January. Besides a plethora of performers from across music genres, other celebrities from the South Indian music fraternity who will perform during Jana mana Jathre include Mano, Anuraha Sriram, Rajesh Krishnan, vasundhara Das, Raghu Dixit, Vijay Yesudas and K S Chithra. Sandalwood music director and lyricist Hamsalekha will be directing the event.
The logo of Jana Mana Jathre was launched in Bengaluru today. From this year onward the organizers plan to hold the event every year for eight days from January 9 until January 16 to coincide with the festival of Sankranthi that falls on 14 January every year.
Looking at the tremendous response from artists from the music, dance, drama and arts fraternity as well as from sports persons from Bengaluru, the prime mover of the Jana Mana Jathre, Deputy Mayor of Bengaluru’s Municipal Corporation S Harish, plans to gradually take the concept of Jana Mana Jathre across different suburbs of the Garden City.
