MUMBAI: Sony Music India has commissioned digital content service provider Prime Focus Technologies (PFT) to set up CLEAR- a hybrid cloud-based platform to fine tune its video operations.
Sony will move a large set of content including music videos, documentaries, promos, full length movies and its artwork library to the platform enabling the company to supply, prepare and deliver content through the cloud, in addition to being able to archive it.
The move will help the label in cutting content distribution costs and increasing revenue streams for content as the cloud platform supports digital delivery to multiple platforms, customizing content for different formats and cataloging through metadata. In addition it will help Sony to monetize its video content, aided by data modeling and cataloguing, and to quickly customize content for distribution across different platforms.
Sony Music India president Shridhar Subramaniam said, “With the emergence of digital video platforms and increasing channels of music video discovery, video consumption continues to grow at an accelerated pace. We are glad to have partnered with Prime Focus Technologies as their platform CLEAR will help us digitize our video content quickly, meet the ever-growing demand of our customers and open up monetization opportunities.”
Prime Focus Technologies founder and CEO Ramki Sankaranarayanan said, “We are delighted to take Sony Music’s video operations to the cloud through CLEAR. So whilst Sony Music focuses their energies on acquisition, distribution & marketing content, we can focus on enabling their video business of content with our proven capabilities.”
