Sony Music launches app to expand Coke Studio@MTV- season 2

MUMBAI: Exploiting digital medium to its core and spreading the popularity of Coke Studio@MTV- season 2, Sony Music today launched an app that hosts the show’s episodes, audio, artiste profiles and twitter feeds amongst others.

This app is available on android phones on the PlayStore and will be available on the iOS platform across the globe. It is embedded with social media allowing users to share what they are listening to on Facebook and Twitter.

Commenting on the release of the app, Sony Music Entertainment India marketing director Sanujeet Bhujabal said, “We have received overwhelming response from our customers on the Coke Studio albums so far. The first season surpassed expectations while this season is already notching some great numbers with 10000 CD’s sold over a period of 5 months and over 10 million downloads. This has infact got us to launch an app for music lovers to experience the music on the go and share the music on social feeds on a touch of a button. Currently we are featuring the four episodes while the rest of the episodes will be added soon.”

Currently in its eighth episode, the season is generating new music with over 50 original compositions. As reported by Radioandmusic.com earlier, the music label plans almost 50 per cent of marketing spends to be online along with strong and visible merchandising across all digital partners including telcos, download stores, streaming sites, apps and variety of other innovations.
