MUMBAI: Adding to its increasing repertoire of bollywood films this season, Sony Music Entertainment has acquired the audio rights of Vishal Bharadwaj’s upcoming film ‘Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola’.
The comedy drama film features Bharadwaj essaying multiple roles of writer, director and music composer, while the lyrics have been penned by the renowned Gulzar.
The trailer of the film was released yesterday and encompasses the desi and peppy title track. The movie will showcase Imran Khan in a Haryanvi avatar while Anushka Sharma’s character will be portrayed strongly as is the case with most Bharadwaj films where the female characters in his films are usually very strong. The trailer of the film has been appreciated by the audiences already and the music like all his projects will be the highlight.
“My female characters are always very strong. It comes naturally. I see women as stronger than men in real life as well,” Bharadwaj said at the trailer launch of the film yesterday.
Presented by Fox Star Studios, the film stars Imran Khan, Anushka Sharma and Arya Babbar in the lead roles while Pankaj Kapoor and Shabana Azmi appear in the supporting roles. The film is slated to release on 11 January 2013.
