MUMBAI: After the success of its two earlier albums with musical trio Kailash-Paresh-Naresh, Sony BMG is all set to launch the third part of Kailasa by this year end or early January 2009.
The album will contain eight tracks and the magic of Kailasa will be retained in this composition as well. Says Kailash Kher, We have tried to incorporate the old folk elements like the Dhola Gayaki from UP. We have avoided the use of electric sounds as far as possible and have stuck to acoustics and raw instruments. There are nine artistes in our band who play 90 different instruments among themselves and we have used many of these in the album….
The lyrics have been written by Kailash and the songs are sung and composed by all three, Kailash, Paresh and Naresh. Recollects Paresh, There are times when Kailash is lost in his thoughts and writes something which is a complete bouncer for us. He has a strong hold over Urdu and Punjabi and the dialect sometimes becomes difficult to understand. Kailash then simplifies the lyrics and we start recording….
We prefer to give the music a feel of being played live rather than the shrinking sound of recorded music and try to make it as organic as possible. Also, the USP of our music has always been that it is raw using instruments like drums, piano, dhol etc, it’s not a copy of the latest trend of hiphop and rap,… avers Paresh.
Talking about their expectations, a Sony BMG Spokesperson says, The expectations are obviously extremely high as Kailasa and Kailasa Jhoomo Re have redefined Indipop as a genre. The earlier successful albums by the same band say a lot not only about the quality of music, but also consistency in their output. There will be a lot of innovative marketing promotions which will happen for the promotion of the album….
Commenting on the viability of launching an album when many non-film ones go unnoticed, Paresh says, Good music will always work with the audiences. I have been hearing to Kailash’s voice almost everyday since the past six years and I am not bored of it, I still want more. His voice is not easily passable and the audiences will never get tired….
Apart from the non-film scene, the composers are also making their presence felt in Bollywood. The Kailasa trio had composed for Hirdesh Kamble’s Pranali but it went unnoticed. Our first project in Bollywood was Nikhil Advani’s Chandichowk to China but it took long to release and our other project Pranali became our debut…. The band has also composed for One more thought Production’s Dusvidaniya and the title track of Faruque Kabir’s Allah ke Bande. Also lined up is Rishton ki machine produced by Percept Films.
Ironically, the Kailasa band has set up a studio for themselves, â€?Kailasa Studio’ at Aaram Nagar, Versova.
