MUMBAI: It takes a lot to have the kind of commitment that singer-actress Barbie Rajput has in her. She walked up ‘The Stage’ with a broken leg and mesmerised the judges with her beautiful voice. And she believes she would have stayed longer had it not been for her deteriorating health conditions.
Rajput was eliminated from ‘The Stage’ in a dual elimination on Sunday (16 October 2016). But, this girl from Himachal has no complaints. In fact, she is grateful to ‘The Stage’ team for supporting her. “The production and the channel were extremely supportive and it was really kind of them to help me. I cannot thank them enough,” says Barbie who missed dancing on ‘The Stage’.
“I am extremely fond of dancing and that was the only intimidating thing stopping me from going on ‘The Stage’. I had refused to participate post my accident, but the production house insisted. My USP is singing and performing to upbeat songs. And I gravely missed that on ‘The Stage’,” confesses Rajput who has been singing all her life.

The ‘Ishq Unplugged’ actress began singing at the age of three. She started training classically at the age of six and she was busy performing at nine. She has performed on various other singing reality show like, ‘ Zee Li’l Champs’ and ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’. She launched her first music album at 17.
“I am an Indian classically trained singer, but at the age of 11, I met Sonu Nigam. This was during my Li’l Champs days. He suggested that I should also learn the western side of Indian music and that is when I started listening to international music, “explained the singer.
Rajput began with Hannah Montana and Taylor Swift and later went on to lay her hands on Rihanna’s work. “Beyonce is my inspiration. While I was young I used to perform with remote or a bottle considering them to be my mike.”
Currently, Rajput is taking some time off to heal, but she assures to be back soon. “There is this adrenaline rush to do so much. It feels like you’re constantly running out of time. But, my health needs recovery. So, I will relax for a bit.”
