MUMBAI: No one knows yet who the real Sonam Gupta is, but her notoreity has just climbed a notch higher.
The currency notes, defiled by the message about Sonam Gupta are her being ‘bewafa’ spawned a number of similar farces. Now a young singer from Madhya Pradesh Jishan Ali Thobani, who started his musical journey three years ago, is cashing in on the trend and has created a song ‘ Sonam Gupta Tu Bewafa Hai’ which raises all the questions that every common man has in his mind.
Interestingly, the idea behind the Sonam Gupta composition struck the singer when he saw the posts all over social media and news channels.

So, to present both elements, I have held my nose and sung to get the feel of those golden era,” deadpans Jishan.
Sarthak Nakul has given music of ‘Sonam Gupta Tu Bewafa Hai’ and lyrics are by Amit Lakhani-Jishan Ali Thobani.
Jishan recorded his first song ‘Tu Jaane Na R and B mix’ with English lyrics created by him, uploaded on Facebook and that is how he started clinching fan followings. Next he came up with a cover ‘ Tere Hoke Rahenge’ with a modified version of changes in lyrics into English and changes in tunes.
In 2014, he finally decided to take up music as his profession and in 2015, composed a song ‘ Ghanta Tera Pyaar’ which was released by Zee Music globally. This was a turning point for him. The song is still being played on international television.“ I till date receive snaps from London, America showing my song being played on television. This has given me a huge fan following”.
‘Ghanta Tera Pyaar’ and ‘Sonam Gupta Bewafa’ indicates Jishan has passed through the heart break trauma but he denies this. “ A dialogue from the movie Rockstar that says ‘Tute hue dil se sangeet nikalta hai’ is just not my story. Casual heart-breaks are common now but they have never inspired me into music.”
Jishan started receiving opportunities after his Islamic song video ‘ Shukhar Moula’, also managed to perform at the Jubilee Games Dubai in July this year. In the eight days event, he managed to perform twice, one with the band and second with international artists which was directed by Salim-Sulaeman.
The Madhya Pradesh boy has been featuring in all his music videos which may make it seem that he is little self-obsessed, but Jishan takes it as a chance. He says, “I am not being self-obsessed but creating a self-value.”
Jishan’s biggest musical inspiration has been his elder brother Rehan Ali Thobani who is well trained in music but couldn’t escape the clutches of the family business. “ Even today any song I record is first approved by my brother and then I take the next step,” adds Jishan.
