MUMBAI: Music streaming service Saavn has announced its tie-up with popular online shopping website Snapdeal. The partnership will give mobile shoppers a 2-month subscription to Saavn Pro, which will allow unlimited downloads and ad-free music.
In a statement, Saavn co-founder and president Vinodh Bhat said, “Music and shopping represent two of the most ubiquitous smartphone use cases in India, so it feels very natural to create an alliance that supports both of these activities simultaneously. Snapdeal.com already provides its customers with an amazing mobile shopping experience. Now, with first-time access to Saavn Pro, they’ll also receive a compelling music experience.”
The offer is currently available to Snapdeal Android users, who will get a promotional code for Saavn Pro once a purchase is made. However, there is no word on whether or not the service will be made available to iOS users as well. Along with allowing the users access to the catalogue, Saavn Pro also offers offline listening without advertisements. The Pro service is available for Rs. 220 per month. Along with the download and ad free features, Saavn Pro users can also avail of “search and play” streaming and radio.

The premium service- Saavn Pro was launched last year. The music service is available in English and a few other regional languages. Saavn currently has the rights to over 1.1 million songs on its catalogue with around eight million users on the platform every month. The company was recently in the news when it was close to raising Rs 180-240 crore in a deal. As per reports, Saavn has also signed licensing agreements with EMI and Warner Music in order to add eight lakh international songs to its catalogue.
