MUMBAI: While all the ‘scenesters’ are eagerly waiting on the edge of their seats for the Bacardi NH7 Weekender line-up to be announced, here is a tentative list of which bands/artistes could be performing at the “happiest” independent music festival in India.
Progressive rock/metal band Skyharbor could be one of the bands that will perform at the Bacardi Black Rock Arena at NH7. The band hinted towards an announcement on 21 August, which is coincidentally the day when NH7 will announce its entire line-up. The band updated its status on Facebook which said, “21.08.2014. 16:30 IST. Watch this space.” Skyharbor has been meaning to perform in India after its last gig, two years ago. Keshav Dhar, in a recent interview with Radioandmusic.com had said, “We owe it to our fans here. An Indian tour is long overdue.” The band had also said that it will be releasing its upcoming album in October or November, which could possibly mean that they will launch their album at the festival.
NH7 already revealed that Fear Factory, the American heavy metal band, will be performing at the Pune leg of the festival on 22 November and in Delhi on 29 November. Besides, Scribe’s guitarist Akshay Rajpurohit also revealed that they will be a part of NH7 this year again, for the third time.
Festival goers can hardly contain their curiosity and excitement leading up to the revelation of the line-up. A few sources confirmed that bands like Pangea, Undying Inc, The Supersonics, The Down Troddence Bhayanak Maut and Parvaaz will also be part of the festival. Rumours are also afloat that bands like Big City Harmonics, Madboy Mink, Frame/Frame and Dualist Inquiry (Sahej Bakshi) will all be playing at NH7.
Additionally, multiple Grammy Award winning musician/producer, Nile Rodgers could perform at NH7 2014 after cancelling his act last year.
A few days ago, OML CEO Vijay Nair tweeted, “Pune @NH7 will see 58 acts this year. 41 playing for the first time ever, 10 acts curating one-time only sets. #taazamaal.”
Later, he also posted, “38/45 and 36/45 acts in Kolkata and Delhi (resp.) will be playing for the first time @NH7.”
Festival organisers have been creating a huge buzz about this year’s line-up which is expected to be bigger than ever. Arjun Ravi, Editor of NH7.in tweeted, “Putting the final touches to this year’s Bacardi @NH7 Weekender lineup press release. Hot damn this is a great lineup. Out this week.”
With six stages for different genres of music, at four cities – Pune, Bangalore, Kolkata and Delhi – the line-up is going to be massive. NH7 has in the past brought to stage huge acts like Megadeth, Karnivool, Bombay Bicycle Club, Periphery, Blackstratblues and many more.
