MUMBAI: After enthralling audience in  IPL season 5, acclaimed percussionist Anandan Sivamani, popularly known as Sivamani is all set to launch his new album ‘New Life’ with sufi singer Runa Rizvi.

Speaking with Radioandmusic.com, Sivamani said, “The album is in production stage and will be released very soon. Music is my blood, I live for it and the album depicts my passion for music. The album is a blend of my kind of music with that of Runa Rizvi style.”

The percussionist, affiliated to the Chennai Super Kings team, has performed for three years in the IPL Championships. He has performed at various concerts in Dubai, Moscow, New York, Doha and Toronto. When quizzed on the scenario of live music in India, Sivamani said that live music is growing at a tremendous speed in the country.  “Live music scene in India is like a giant swimming pool and those who dive in and swim are the ones who shine. The singers who are complaining that there isn’t much going on in live music scene are not trying their best. People are still longing to hear rehash of classic tracks by legendary singers like RD Burman and Kishore Kumar, which is proof enough that live music scene is in demand,” he asserted.

Sivamani has since collaborated with several musicians including Louis Banks and AR Rahman and has played drums in films like Roja, Rang De Basanti, Taal, Lagaan, Dil Se, Guru and Kabul Express amongst others. He has also been a part of a musical group called Shraddha which comprises of Shankar Mahadevan, Hariharan, U Srinivas and Loy Mendonsa. He has a music band named ‘Asia Electrik’ with Niladri Kumar, Louiz Banks and Ravi Chari.
