MUMBAI: Four time national Award winner Shankar Mahadevan’s son, Siddharth Mahadevan has made his music direction debut along with his cousin Soumil Shrirangpure in the upcoming Marathi film, ‘Sata Lota Pan Sagla Khota’. The film is directed by Shrabani Deodhar, who is well known for the Karishma Kapoor starrer ‘Silsila Hai Pyar Ka’.
Plenty has been kept under wraps for the film; however sources confirm that the film is a family-oriented situational comedy. It aims to bring together people from both, the older and the younger generations.
Siddharth Mahadevan spoke to Radioandmusic.com on his composition for the film, which has only two songs. According to Mahadevan, the music for the film had been in production for almost two years. He stated that the first song, ‘Sata Lota’ is a hard core punk song which is sung by multiple-award winner and Pentagram lead vocalist Vishal Dadlani. The second song in the film is a club song called ‘Halla Karuya’ with vocals by Siddharth, his father Shankar and Prakriti Kakkar.

“Over the past couple of years, the Marathi music industry has witnessed a wide spectrum of change. The music has become more vibrant and colourful. For the first song, the director (Shrabani Deodhar) gave us the sound of ‘Delhi Belly’s ‘Bhaag DK Bose’ as a reference. And, it has inspired is to create a tune that resonates through the course of the film. Towards the middle of the second song (Halla Karuya), we added a section which uses classical music and incorporated it with the film’s narrative,” he said.
Although the release of the tracks is without a premiere date, Mahadevan is anticipating the release and its corresponding response.
