MUMBAI: This is the season of festivals and in India, there is no dearth of festivals and music related to it. Janmashtami, a festival to celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna, falls on 1 September and as a musical tribute to the same, concert by well-known playback singer Parthiv Gohil and group celebrates the diverse nuances of Lord Krishna.
“Among the gods, we worship, Krishna is the most friendly and approachable. There are also many facets of Lord Krishna, his mischievous childhood, his youth, he being a politician and a king,” shared Parthiv, who has curated the entire show and will be singing too.
Over centuries, Lord Krishna’s legends have inspired many poets, writers, and musicians. Hindi Film, too, has depicted this festival in its inimitable way, therefore, Indian music possesses a huge repertoire of compositions and songs. “We will be having Sanskrit shlokas, movie songs, bhajans and some folk songs in Gujarati, which even non-Gujaratis can enjoy,” continued Parthiv.

“We have tried to bring out Krishna’s personality through these musical transitions,” shares Parthiv, who further adds jokingly, “You can call this a Krishna mash-up.”
Parthiv will be presenting his art with his troupe. “We have the sitar, flute, Pakhawaj and many other instruments. We have tried to be as organic as we can be,” he concludes.
