MUMBAI: Singers turned bosom friends- Antara Mitra, Meenal Jain, Prajakta Shukre, Mauli Dave and Himani Kapoor as promised released a cover version for the monsoon. The girls’ presented a rendition of Shubha Mudgal’s hit track ‘Ab Ke Saawan’ (2006).
As told to radioandmusic.com, the sisters from different mothers also decided to form a girls’ band. Meenal Jain shared how the idea of forming a group took place. She says,” We sing for our satisfaction. We know each other since a decade now and that’s how the idea of recreating something like ‘Pari Hoon Main’ was born. We did not promote the song except on our social networking sites and still it received more than 50,000 views on YouTube. I guess this is a great achievement. That’s where the idea of forming a band germinated.”

Mauli Dave, who is expecting her first child can make us feel her presence in the video but due to spatial differences as she stays in New York, she was not able to shoot the video together with her friends. Therefore, she is seen adding her part in between.

Before ‘Ab Ke Saawan’, Antara, Meenal, Prajakta and Mauli recreated Sunita Rao’s famous track ‘Pari Hoon Main’ for which the girls got much appreciation. ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’ (2005) finalist Himani Kapoor is the new member who has been added to the quartet of Antara Mitra, Meenal Jain, Prajakta Shukre and Mauli Dave.
