Shreya Ghoshal to perform in Qatar after five years

MUMBAI: Returning to Qatar after five years, mellifluous singer Shreya Ghoshal who has enthralled audience across the globe with her melodious songs is all set to perform a concert ‘Shreya Ghoshal live in Qatar’ on 26 October 2012 at Al Ahli Stadium grounds.

Jointly organized by Rami Productions and Doha Waves, the singer will perform her first open stadium concert in Qatar and will be accompanied by TVS Saregama Shivaprasad Mallayya and 15-member orchestra from India. The Doha program is being held as a part of series of shows in the region. Apart from Qatar, the melodious singer will also perform at UAE and Oman as part of Doha series of shows in the region.

The organizers have chosen Gulf Times as the official media for the three-hour show which is scheduled to start at 7.30pm.

Speaking to Gulf Times, show organizers Raheem Athavanad (of Rami Productions) and Mohamed Thoyib (Doha Waves) said, “Music lovers among Asian expatriates who have been without a multi-lingual show for a long time are fortunate to have a singer of Ghoshal’s calibre during Eid.”

Ghoshal has rendered songs in various languages including Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, Bengali, Kannada, Assamese and Marathi. The singer is a recipient of various awards including four National awards and several Filmfare Awards in different languages. Ghoshal was also honoured by the Governor of US state of Ohio Ted Strickland who declared 26 June as ‘Shreya Ghoshal Day’.
