MUMBAI: New York-based musician, producer, and meditation practitioner ShiShi is making waves with his latest album, Indigo, released on September 5, 2025. The record marks his bold transition from electronica to rock while carrying forward his trademark blend of multicultural influences and spirituality. Reflecting on its reception, ShiShi shared, “The response has been incredible. From the industry, many publications and fellow artists have reached out, saying this project feels truly unique, combining sacred Indian music with modern rock in a way that’s fresh and different. Listeners have been equally engaged. I’ve received countless messages from people about specific lyrics and songs that have deeply resonated with them. It’s been creatively fulfilling and very satisfying to see people really connect with the music.”
Among the standout tracks, fans have shown particular love for “Dopamine Machine” and “Krishna’s Theme.” ShiShi explained, “Fans have been especially drawn to ‘Dopamine Machine’ and ‘Krishna’s Theme.’ For me, it’s difficult to pick because every song feels important, like choosing a favorite child. ‘Dopamine Machine’ serves as a cheeky commentary on our social media addicted culture, which many relate to. Meanwhile, ‘Krishna’s Theme’ fuses kirtan and traditional Indian music with modern rock in a way that’s new and exciting for listeners. Both tracks have resonated deeply.”
The album’s vision, he says, comes from deeply personal and spiritual encounters. “This album grew from many spiritual experiences I’ve had, through meditation retreats, psychedelic journeys and moments of connecting with something larger than myself. These encounters with the divine shaped the album’s storytelling, which I see as a love song to God or to the divine presence.” With this foundation, Indigo emerges not just as a musical project, but as a spiritual offering intended to unite listeners in shared transcendence.
Looking ahead, ShiShi sees Indigo as a reflection of where he is today, both artistically and spiritually. “It feels like an authentic representation of where I am right now. My purpose is divided between creating meaningful music and pursuing my spiritual growth. I strive to merge these two passions, allowing my expanded consciousness to inspire my music, and for my music to reflect that growth. Looking forward, I’m heading to India for a three-month meditation teacher training, which I expect to be transformative and a source of new creative inspiration. I’m also planning an India tour and a European summer festival tour next year. There’s a lot on the horizon, and I’m excited to be sharing this journey with listeners.”
