MUMBAI: Singer Shibani Kashyap, who attended the day one of MTV Music Inc, was a part of the panel ‘Using Music For A Cause’ by Shailendra Singh.
Speaking about the event, Shibani said, “The curators of the event Anurag Batra and Aparajita Misra discussed the idea about six-seven months ago and I thought it was fantastic.”
While on the panel Shibani spoke about bringing changes in the society through music. “As everyone knows my music always talks about some cause or the other. My song, Wanna Be Free talks about our addiction to social media and technology and how we should use the platform responsibly and not be its slave. And, I have done it in a mainstream way as I felt that we all needed a wakeup call,” explained the singer.

On her experience of being at the event, the singer said, “It’s nice to be at the event and meet people from the music industry, be it singers, music composers and people who are in the business of music. It is a very good place to network.”
Shibani Kashyap was honoured with two awards for her song, Wanna Be Free. On this, she told, “I received Dadasaheb Phalke Award recently and the Rajeev Gandhi Excellence Award for Wanna Be Free. The song was noticed by both media and mainstream people because they thought that the song discussed a very strong cause.”
Shibani had earlier released, Drunk And Drive, which was on drunk driving, one of the severe issues faced by the society.
