MUMBAI: Shantanu Moitra, an Indian composer and musician who is famous for his music in “3 Idiots” spoke to radioandmusic.com about his 100-days in the Himalayas, a journey that truly inspired him.
Speaking about his motive behind why he picked 100 days he said, “I love the number 100, as I’ve never got it in my academics. I feel it’s a very powerful number, 50 seems too less and 200 seems too much so it’s just that. The power of the Himalayas and the number 100 seems right. Logistically speaking, I had also calculated the amount of time I had to spend in each place”.
When asked why he chose Himalaya as his travel destination he replied, “Because it’s there, it’s the most beautiful place, it would be a crime to not go there”.

Sharing personal inspiration while on the Himalayas he exclaimed, “In about 14,000 ft the people in Himalaya believe in sharing, they know they cannot survive because of the harsh conditions. They always lookout for each other which are fundamentally different from the people who live in the cities because we are constantly only looking after ourselves, that’s the biggest lesson I’ve learned in the Himalayas”.
Shantanu Moitra unveils that he gets music ideas while trekking and travelling. Over uncountable memories that Moitra made, he further said, “I was at a tea shop and I witnessed some people arguing how to divide the 100 rupees note that they had found. It’s unbelievable in the city to find such sensibility”.
Currently, Shantanu is working for an upcoming movie “Gulabo Sitabo” with Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana, which is releasing on 17 April 2020.
