MUMBAI: The man behind a number of Bollywood chartbusters will now also be the face of the Storm Festival 2014.

In latest developments Radioandmusic.com has learnt that after collaborating with Indian Ocean in February Shankar Mahadevan has joined hands with the Storm Festival for 2014, a Liquid Space Entertainment property, and will be the ambassador for the festival.

The revelation came about late last evening when Shankar, along with the organiser-brothers Lavin Uthappa and Sachin Bopanna, made the announcement in Juhu.

Liquidspace Entertainment MD Lavin Uthappa said, “I am very glad he is on board. He brings a lot of value, music, artistes and people because he is one of the most loved people in the music industry.”

Shankar was all praise for the festival – he had also performed last year – and having collaborated with the legendary Indian Ocean. “Usually you see that at some of the rock festivals by the end they get into brawls, bashing each other up, security issues. Here there were no fights. It was a totally chilled out space. Many festivals face complaints about drugs and stuff like that. Here there were almost three-four levels of security. Everyone comes in to enjoy two days of music and nothing else. I was very impressed and I enjoyed the whole experience very much.”

He further added, “When they suggested that I be the face of the festival, I more than gladly agreed. I always wanted to create my own festival at some point of time, but for me to put my hand into 100 things, I thought it would be a great idea to join hands with the Storm Festival team. This way I will be able to musically contribute by helping bring more artists on board and performing for the festival.”

With 200 acres of land at their disposal, out of which a sliver will be utilised, the festival will have 5-6 levels of security, including sniffer dogs. Apart from camping out and other adventure activities, there will be art and craft workshops accompanied by music workshops for aspiring musicians. An interesting aspect of the festival that sets it apart is the singer-songwriter stage where anybody who is a singer and song writer can go on to this informal stage and jam. This will take place after the shows are over, and sometimes after the festival.

The camp out festival will not be hosted by Coorg this year, but a mystery location will be revealed by the organisers soon. There is very little change to be expected in the number of artists that will be performing, but on the brighter side there will three stages instead of two, for easy listening. The line-up of artists is a well balanced one with indie bands as well as DJs, and the names will soon be made public in coming days, this is sure to add more colour to the festival with all shades of genres.
