MUMBAI: Music composer trio- Shankar Ehsaan Loy, who are known for providing a platform to upcoming musicians, have now recorded with a couple of contestants from the upcoming reality show ‘The Stage’. The reality show will feature singers who sing in English, and will be aired on English entertainment channel- Colors Infinity.
“I heard these singers on ‘The Stage’ and they were fantastic. I wanted Shankar and Loy to listen to them, and that is why I called them to the recording studio. They were superb singing in Hindi as well,” Noorani said. He also revealed that the singers will be performing with him at an upcoming concert in Bengaluru.
Talking about the importance of bringing in new talent, the singer/composer said that Bollywood usually has set formats, and many in the industry avoid taking risks. “A lot of people suddenly put a singer on the pedestal and term him or her as their “favourite”. But as time passes, they get bored of that person’s voice, and then look for someone else, leaving the others behind. This is why nurturing talent is very important,” he elucidated.

Noorani is a jury member on ‘The Stage’, along with other popular music industry members like Monica Dogra, Devraj Sanyal and Vishal Dadlani. Viacom18 approached Noorani to become a jury member on the show, which he agreed to immediately. “I wanted to do something like ‘The Stage’ for a very long time because there are no shows which cater to singers who sing in English. We have so much of talent in India, and going further you will see singers from places like Mizoram who sing so well. They just need a platform, and I thank Colors Infinity for such a show,” he explained.
On the Bollywood front, the music composer trio is currently working on films like ‘Ghayal 2’, ‘Rock On 2’ and Vijay Acharya’s upcoming film.
