MUMBAI: With foot tapping numbers like ‘Dildaara’ from ‘Ra One’ and several other chartbusters like ‘Bin Tere’, Shafqat Amanat Ali, the Pakistani singer has crossed borders and has made it on the wish list of composers like Vishal Shekhar, Shankar Ehsaan Loy and Salim Sulaiman.
In a telephonic conversation with Radioandmusic.com’s Dhairya Ingle, Shafqat Amanat Ali exclaimed that it is always good to come to India and work with the composers here. “The best part is that even the biggest of composers are very open to changes, if you happen to suggest a few of them,” he said. Ali belongs to the Patiala Gharana and often implements this style of singing to his songs in Bollywood. He started learning classical music at age four, and his grandmother was his first teacher. His main influences in music come from his father and his uncle Bade Fateh Ali Khan.
According to him a person needs to undergo the process of learning classical music despite the presence of technology as one can get easily exposed when it comes to performing live in front of the audiences. “The software is used to deliver a perfect sound so that the human voice gets in sync with the pitch perfect instruments, but that does not mean that singers do not need to learn music. They are bound to make mistakes on the mic in front of live audiences,” he elaborated.

The 49 year old is all set to team up with the Academy Award Winning sound designer, Resul Pookutty to compose music for a film. “I cannot talk much about the film, but we shall zero down on the number of songs during my next visit to India,” he concluded.
